Great Lakes Downs
Muskegon Construction Company partnered
with Hooker/DeJong Architects and Engineers in the design and
construction of facilities at
the thoroughbred racetrack that serves as a prototype for other
Magna Entertainment tracks.
To meet the aggressive schedule,
many components were custom-built. Weekly progress meetings were
conducted through telephone conferences
and progress photographs were delivered electronically.
Features
• Groomsmen’s quarters is a two-story
masonry and pre-cast concrete building with
44 housing units, a
laundry and a lounge area.
• Jockey’s quarters is a 1-story masonry building equipped with showers,
whirlpools,
saunas and a physical therapy facility.
